Privacy policy
This policy explains what information the Ascent website at ascentsecurity.ai collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website only — not the Ascent product, which you run in your own environment on your own infrastructure.
Who we are
This website is operated by Ascent Security LLC (“Ascent”, “we”). For anything about this policy or your information, email hello@ascentsecurity.ai.
What we collect, and why
When you browse the site
Hosting and security. The site is served through Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical request information such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. We do not use this to identify you.
Analytics, only with your consent where the law requires it. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it. It records:
- the pages you view and how you arrived (for example, a search engine or a link);
- your device type, browser, screen size and approximate location (city or region, derived from your IP address);
- what you do on the page: clicking the free-trial, chat or email links (and which part of the page you clicked from), playing the videos and how far you watch, and which sections of the page you reach.
It does not record what you type into the chat, your name or your email address. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_HNYJX2WERD that last up to two years. We keep Analytics data for fourteen months.
Google signals and advertising features. We use Google signals. For visitors who are signed in to a Google account and have turned on ad personalization, Google uses the Google Analytics cookies together with information from that account, so that we can see reports on the demographics and interests of our audience and on how the site is used across devices. Demographics and Interests reporting is one of Google Analytics’ advertising features. We see these reports only in aggregate, never linked to you.
Advertising measurement. We advertise Ascent on Google Search. Wherever Analytics loads, the Google tag is also allowed to use advertising storage, so that Google Ads can report that a visit came from one of our adverts and that it led to someone asking for a trial. This can set a further Google cookie, such as _gcl_au, which lasts up to 90 days. We show no ads on this website.
You can control how Google uses your account for this in Google’s My Ad Center, and you can stop Google Analytics collecting data on any website with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Analytics, including these advertising features, does not load at all unless you choose Accept in our cookie banner.
When you chat with us
The chat window is provided by tawk.to. When you use it, tawk.to processes your messages and anything you choose to share (such as your name or email address), along with technical information such as your IP address and browser. It uses cookies and similar browser storage to keep your conversation connected. When you click a free-trial button, we tag the conversation as a trial request and note which button you used, so we can respond to it. If you reached us by clicking one of our adverts, we keep the advertising click identifier from that link in your browser for the browsing session and pass it to tawk.to with your trial request, so we can connect the request to the advert you clicked.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the chat does not load until you choose Accept or click a chat or free-trial button yourself.
When you email us
If you email hello@ascentsecurity.ai, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them to reply and to provide what you asked for, such as a free trial.
Your cookie choice
We store your cookie choice in a cookie of its own, ascent_consent, so we don’t ask on every visit. It holds only whether you accepted or rejected, and lasts six months, after which we ask again.
Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
- Consent — for Google Analytics, including Google signals, its advertising features and advertising measurement, and for the chat widget until you open the chat yourself. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to host, secure and operate the site, and to reply to messages you send us.
- Steps before a contract — when you ask us for a trial.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers named above: Cloudflare (hosting), Google (analytics) and tawk.to (chat). With Google signals, Google also uses information from signed-in visitors’ Google accounts, under Google’s own privacy policy, as described above. We do not sell your personal information.
International transfers
Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States.
- Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to it, and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
- Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to it, and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and uses the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses for other international transfers.

How long we keep it
- Analytics data: fourteen months.

- Emails: twelve months after your request has been handled, then deleted.
- Your cookie choice: six months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive a copy of it. Email hello@ascentsecurity.ai and we will respond within one month.
You can change your cookie choice at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland and are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
